Fantasia, also called fantasy or fancy, in music, a composition free in form and inspiration, usually for an instrumental soloist; in 16th- and 17th-century England the term was applied especially to fugal compositions (i.e., based on melodic imitation) for consorts of string or wind instruments. For me painting is like composing music on canvas. The colours and their relationships to each other can be as expressive as the chords and notes in music, and the brushstrokes can reveal a melody and rhythmic pattern. It is important to me to keep the artwork open to interpretation by the viewer so that there is something new to see each time. Just as you listen to music, you hear it differently each time and it is always very personal.
