Original artwork description:

As I look up into the cherry tree, delicately perfumed petals loosen from their branches and drift into the air, caught momentarily by the breeze before beginning their gentle descent.
It’s simple, almost unremarkable—and yet it stops you in your tracks.
Soft light filters through the blossoms, pale pinks and whites set against the open sky.
What stays with you is the sense of impermanence.
These blossoms won’t last long, and that’s exactly the point. The falling petals become a gentle reminder to slow down, to notice where you are, and to take something meaningful from the moment before it passes.
It’s a scene that invites stillness rather than spectacle. You don’t just look at it—you settle into it. In that calm, reflective pause, it feels deeply human, a small but powerful connection to the rhythms that shape both the landscape and ourselves.

Original mixed media painting by Chris Bourne

Whether sketching out on the rocks or rambling through the woods, my intention is to try to create a painting that evokes a feeling or particular atmosphere that you can relate to and, once the finished artwork is hanging on your wall, brings back happy memories.

MATERIALS: This artwork is on a stretched canvas - finished with two layers of varnish to protect against sunlight and dust.

READY TO HANG: The painting continues around the canvas sides so it is ready to hang without a frame if so desired.

Materials used:
