There is something magical about standing beneath wisteria in full bloom, the way it drapes and cascades, almost raining colour from above. In Falling into Gold I began with layered washes of warm gold, peach and sunlit tones, building depth and luminosity before introducing the rich violet blossoms. Using sgraffito, I carved back into the surface to reveal hidden colour and texture, allowing light to move through the piece.
Strong, sweeping branches anchor the composition while expressive drips and thrown paint create that sense of wild abundance I love. The contrast between structure and freedom gives the work its energy. The golden undertones allow the violets to glow, making this painting both dramatic and inviting, designed to transform a space with warmth, movement and colour.
