This monoprint is on the theme of Autumn and its beautiful leaves. Though I cannot call this season my favourite (as a keen gardener I love the spring best) I do love the colours and textures of Autumn. These monoprints are my nod to the beauty of this season in all of natures beautiful colours and a few more besides.

To make this monoprint I drew and cut twelve types of leaves onto lino blocks. Each leaf is inked up using a painterly style using tone and colour gradients to replicate the textures of the leaves in nature, before being placed down individually to print as part of the image.
Each print created using these blocks is quite distinct from the others in the series, no two are the same making them monoprints as they are each unique variations of the same subject. Each is a unique artwork.

My linocuts are handmade from start to finish, hand carved, rolled and handprinted, as in the nature of linoprints and the handmade process they may have small variations. This I feel is part of the charm of printmaking and makes each print into a unique artwork.
