Painting of Ezzard Charles, known as "The Cincinnati Cobra," was an American professional boxer born on July 7, 1921, in Lawrenceville, Georgia. He is celebrated as one of the greatest light heavyweights & pound-for-pound fighters in boxing history. Charles had a remarkable career from 1940 to 1959, during which he became the world heavyweight champion from 1949 to 1951, successfully defending his title eight times.

Charles began boxing at a young age & quickly made a name for himself in the amateur circuit, winning multiple championships. He turned professional in 1940 & initially fought in the middleweight division before moving up to light heavyweight and eventually heavyweight . His notable victories include defeating legendary fighters like Joe Louis & Jersey Joe Walcott.

Despite facing personal tragedies, including the death of a fellow boxer during a match, Charles continued to fight & remained a top contender throughout his career. He retired with a record of 95 w
