This painting is built around air and distance. I wanted the sky to take up more space than the land like a held breath, or the moment right before evening fully arrives.
The house is small and quiet, almost fragile against the sky. But it’s not lonely. It’s anchored by light the last light of the day catching on the walls, soft and warm like a memory. I always imagine places like this near the sea, where the wind smells of salt and grass, and the air holds traces of yesterday.
