Original artwork description
I created Essence of Bloom from a desire to hold on to the feeling of a garden in full bloom — not as a particular place, but as an emotional experience.
I wanted the painting to feel alive and almost tangible. I worked intuitively with layers of oil paint, allowing warm reds, oranges and golden tones to meet cool blues, violets and soft greens. Real dried grasses were pressed and embedded into the surface, creating a rich tactile texture and bringing an actual fragment of the natural world into the painting.
This is part of my Essence of Bloom series, in which I explore the vitality of nature and our emotional connection to it. I am interested in what happens when we stop looking at flowers simply as beautiful objects and begin to feel their energy, movement and resilience.
The organic materials are important to me because they connect the painting to the physical earth. The dried grasses carry traces of a real season, while the layers of paint transform them into something new. The work becomes a meeting point between memory and the present moment, between the material world and our inner landscape.
Living and working in Ukraine during wartime has made this connection with nature even more meaningful to me. Nature continues its cycles despite everything around us. It grows, blooms, changes and begins again. I wanted to preserve that feeling of quiet strength in this painting.
I hope that when someone lives with this artwork, it becomes more than an image on the wall — a place for the eyes to rest, a reminder of summer, growth and the possibility of renewal.
