I went to live in France to try and calm my mind down. I was a mess mentally and falling apart. Living in France saved me and there was no better place for me than in The Pyrenees. Every time I went to The Pyrenees it was like entering another world, a world where the colours, sounds and smells were different. I can not explain the raw silence of this place. It was an escape.

I thought of child hood, I thought of children who grow up surrounded by trauma and chaos. I would love to open the door to this world for them , even for a few moments, just enough to let them breathe again.

As with all my oil paintings my aim is to paint with my heart rather than my eyes. I want the artwork to be a whirlwind of emotion. I painted the small boy sat in the corner, he could see everything from here, he could cry with joy rather than sadness, he could breathe.
