“Equilibrium” is a self-portrait from a very specific point in my life.
Two years ago, in Naples, Florida, I painted myself in gold while everything around me was moving - relocation, uncertainty, emotional instability. That work was about transition and vulnerability, about becoming someone new.
This painting comes from another state.
The face is monochrome - calm, steady, conscious. The gold around it holds time, experience, and everything that has already been lived. She is not lost in it. She stands inside it.
I painted this after relocating to Poland, when I finally felt more grounded. It is not about celebration or arrival. It is about direction - the moment when searching stops and building begins.
Gold here is not luxury. It is memory, weight, and something earned.
