Endless Mediterranean Afternoon” was born from my fascination with the emotional memory of places rather than from a direct landscape study. I wanted to create not simply a villa with a swimming pool, but a psychological space — an eternal summer moment suspended somewhere between dream, memory, and desire.

The inspiration came from Mediterranean architecture, the atmosphere of coastal Spain and southern Italy, and also from modernist painters such as David Hockney and the expressive color language of Fauvism. I have always been interested in how pure color can create emotional temperature. In this painting, the pink terrace, turquoise water, lemon-yellow walls, and intense blue sky are not realistic colors — they are emotional colors. They express warmth, silence, freedom, and a feeling of endless daylight.

The work was created in oil on canvas using multiple transparent and opaque layers. I intentionally simplified certain architectural details while emphasizing light, shadows, and reflections in the pool. The water became the emotional center of the composition — almost like a living mirror that holds movement and stillness at the same time.

What makes this painting special for me is its atmosphere of escapism and optimism. It is about a place where time slows down completely. There are no people in the scene, yet human presence is felt everywhere: the open doors, lounge chairs, umbrella, and quiet traces of life suggest that someone has just left or is about to return. This creates a subtle narrative tension between solitude and comfort.

The painting also reflects my broader artistic interest in combining contemporary architecture with painterly emotionality. I try to balance structured geometry with vibrant organic color so that the artwork feels both designed and deeply personal. “Endless Mediterranean Afternoon” is ultimately about the universal longing for light, calmness, beauty,
