A medium/large statement watercolour and mixed media painting of deep orange coloured sunflowers, just starting to go past their prime! These sunflowers are shades of beautiful deep burnt orange and remind me that beauty fades and is fleeting. I love the way the flowers start to wilt and petals and leaves start to brown and twist and have tried to show this in the painting by using some brown water-based ink for mark-making as well as high quality deep orange shades of Daniel Smith and Windsor and Newton watercolours with touches of oil pastel resist painted in a loose, painterly and expressive style.
Painted on heavy Saunders Waterford paper with a deckle edge (shown in one of the photos).
This painting is sold mounted and framed
ready to hang in an off white mount and a stylish black frame.
