Original Encaustic Artwork by Alona Hryn
The painting is made using encaustic technique. Encaustic paint is made from a combination of beeswax, pigment, and damar resin, and is worked by heating and melting the materials.
You never know how the wax will behave after heating, where it will melt and what kind of patterns it will give. You need to trust the flow and look for a picture in what has already turned out from the temperature. The technique is a mix of multiple layers of wax and wax crayons that create depth and subtle color vibrations. The painting is very textured.
I like this technique for its originality and textures. It's impossible to create two identical works. This is a very fun process.
Medium: Artist's Quality Encaustic and Wax Crayons
Surface: Wall Calendar (reverse side)
Dimensions: 5.16" x 5.12" (13.1 x 13 cm)
Unframed (frame not included, for presentation only)
Signed Original Artwork
Encaustic is a very ancient technique, dated back in the antique times. This paintings are very durable (examples remain from ancient Egypt), but they are susceptible to high temperatures, so they should not be hung in a place which may get excessively hot, such as near a radiator or in direct sunlight.
ATTENTION! KEEP IT AWAY FROM HEAT AND FIRE!
The picture should be also protected from deep scratches. Don't put any pressure to the surface to not damage.
Over time, the painting might become dusty or slightly oxidized by the wax. In this case, it is advisable to wipe with a slightly crumpled kitchen paper towel and the wax artwork regain its original brilliant color and shine. Has a pleasant wax smell.
Paintings made with encaustic are characterized by bright color and silky light. Thanks to the well-preserving properties of the wax, the colors do not fade over time and retain their liveliness.
NOTE: The colors shown on your screen and/or web viewing devices may vary slightly from the actual painting or print colors. The images in-home might not be to scale, and serve for illustration purposes only.
Interior photo may not reflect the actual size of work. Always check the exact size of the painting!
