Emerald Summer 1. “Emerald Summer” series. (2026) Original Oil Painting by Irina Smirnova-Seymour

80 x 80 x 2cm (unframed) / 80 x 80cm (actual image size)

£2,500

Emerald Summer is a contemporary abstract landscape in which abstract expressionism, and contemporary Impressionism come together to evoke the feeling of a warm, almost endless summer day. The forms of trees and plants dissolve into one another, while rich greens and turquoise tones intertwine with soft pink, ochre, and blue accents, like a memory of a garden seen through sunlit air.

I wanted to capture the very essence of summer — its fullness, tranquillity, and the sense of life hidden in every movement of grass and foliage. The space of the painting exists on the boundary between reality and abstraction, where natural forms gradually transform into colour, rhythm, and free movement.

Materials used:

Linen canvas, oil paint, oil pastel
