£641.77
Original artwork description
This painting is part of the Memories in Red series, where two cherished Ukrainian traditions are merged in a striking, contemporary way. These elements - Ukrainian embroidery and Petrykivka painting are core identifiers of the nation, deeply rooted in its culture, which is experiencing a powerful revival today.
On the left, Petrykivka, a folk art style born from the intuitive depiction of the natural world, comes alive with dark blue "bulbs" and spikelets reaching toward the sun, symbolizing growth and vitality. On the right, a traditional embroidery pattern from the Volyn region takes shape, where sharp rhombus motifs represent fertility, the sun, and the Earth. This unique fusion not only highlights the beauty of Ukrainian heritage but also emphasizes the ongoing cultural revival, celebrating the harmony between life, nature, and tradition.
Memories in Red
This series brings together paintings that capture the full spectrum of my memories-scenes, feelings, and experiences from my time in pre-war Ukraine. The color red is central to this collection because it represents warmth, depth, and the positive emotions that I associate with my homeland. But at the same time remembers about todays war. Many of these works also reflect my childhood memories.
