This is an original, hand painted piece of an Elephant completed in a monochrome (black & white) scheme.
The work is painted on black textured leather, in my unique art-on-leather style. Is it also provided framed and ready to wall hang - as in the photographs of it here.
One of the features of my artwork on leather is that it is not behind glass and the painted surface can be touched - it is also water proof! This art is tactile.
The reason for using leather as a medium to paint on is often asked. In this case as with all of my leather art, the leather hide chose is not by accident. The texture and colour must add to the composition, in this case the size of texture perfectly added to the semi-3D effect. Some artists prepare the ground to give texture. I use the natural and random texture of leather in the same way.
The painting process I have developed over the past 10+ years has enabled me to exploit a feature that many mediums avoid. My leather art is not behind glass. The process and materials I use means that the leather art is waterproof and should be seen and appreciated - including touching as you can sculpture. I paint art on leather jackets as well so the process is well proven.
So if you are looking for art that is innovative this could be what you are looking for.
