This work was painted after a visit to Bruges. The style is very simple but the elements of the city are there - varying types and sizes of houses in many colours lining the canal on both sides and disappearing beyond the bridge. Since it is dusk and there is no wind the colours of the houses and the warm tones of the sky are reflected in the canal.
