This painting is part of Fragments of Spain, a collection I created to capture images, flavours and sounds of Barcelona, where I was born. I imagined sitting in a cafe in Las Ramblas, having a cup of coffee and catching up with the day's news. It's early evening and the sun is going down but the light is still warm and golden and the colours are rich and deep, with deep shadows.
