This painting depicts a residential building in Edinburgh with a traditional stone facade, large bay windows, and a slate roof featuring dormer windows. The architecture is characteristic of the city’s historic residential design, combining vertical symmetry with decorative stonework. The building is surrounded by greenery, including bushes and mature trees, and a small fenced garden area sits in the foreground. The sky is rendered in a deep, even blue, providing contrast to the warm tones of the stone. I painted this view in a realist style, emphasizing architectural form and the relationship between structure and setting. The brushwork is measured and layered, with tonal variation used to suggest depth and light. The palette reflects the natural elements of the scene—stone, foliage, and sky—presented clearly and without stylization.

Texture has been added to create extra depth. The canvas is 0.5 inches deep and can therefore hang without a frame if wished.
