Echoes of Old Dublin
Step back in time to Dublin between 1890 and 1908, with this atmospheric original watercolour depicting the historic waterfront and the magnificent architecture of the city.
A beautifully tall sailing ship rests beside the quay, its intricate masts and rigging silhouetted against a dramatic evening sky. Across the water stands the elegant domed architecture of Custom House Quay, while figures strolling along the waterfront add a wonderful sense of scale and life to the scene.
The painting combines soft washes of dusky blue, warm pink and muted rose with deeper architectural shadows, creating the feeling of a quiet evening as the light begins to fade. The reflections in the water and the weathered stonework add to its timeless, nostalgic character.
Painted in my own loose and expressive watercolour style, this piece aims to capture not only the architecture of historic Dublin, but also the atmosphere of a city at the turn of the 20th century.
An original, one-of-a-kind watercolour painting, ideal for anyone with an appreciation of Dublin, maritime history, historic architecture or atmospheric artwork.
