While painting this acrylic work, I was drawn to the valley illuminated by the setting sun. The cliffs ignite in warm oranges and golds, while the still water quietly receives and mirrors it all. I wanted the painting to hold both grandeur and stillness, allowing viewers to feel an inner resonance and a sense of awe through the dialogue between light and reflection.
I took advantage of acrylic paint’s fast-drying nature, using impasto and scraping techniques to build the solid structure of the cliffs and preserve visible textures. The trees and reflections were painted with looser, more rhythmic strokes to energize the scene. Strong contrasts between cool and warm tones, along with the interplay of horizontal water and vertical mountains, enhance depth and visual tension.
