- East 2–4: Gibraltar Point
Original artwork description
Acrylic on Paper | Framed 40 × 30 cm | Original Painting
East 2–4: Gibraltar Point draws on the language of the shipping forecast, where coastal conditions are recorded with clarity and understatement. Horizontal bands of colour move through the composition, shifting between open blues, warm yellows, and deeper reds. A textured central passage introduces variation and depth, suggesting the meeting point of land, sea, and light without becoming literal.
The painting balances structure and atmosphere, with clearly defined layers softened by subtle surface marks and tonal transitions. References to horizon and shoreline remain implied, allowing the work to sit comfortably between abstraction and place.
The measured horizontal rhythm gives the painting a calm, settled presence. It brings light and warmth into a space without dominating it, offering a quiet visual anchor that remains engaging over time as textures and colour relationships gradually reveal themselves.
