This is semi-abstract painting based on an image from a 1973 recording session of The Ramsey Lewis Trio. This was in the early years when Ramsey was just getting started. During his career, he worked with many different musicians, and at one time or another, he had "The Ramsey Lewis Quartet" and "The Ramsey Lewis Quintet". For this recording session, the drummer was Issac Holt and the bassist was Eldee Young. Ramsey is playing an electric organ with his grand piano to the right. In my humble opinion, Ramsey Lewis was the greatest jazz musician who ever lived. He died in 2022 at the age of 87.
Early Ramsey is a one of a kind, original work of art. It is produced using India ink and acrylic paint on laminated 5 mil Dura-Lar artist mylar film. I have stayed with my usual pallet of warm “earthy” colors.
The painting is signed on the front and comes with a signed certificate of authenticity.
. This painting will be ready to hang, out of the box. It is mounted on tempered masonite with a two inch wide painted border. It will have a hanging strip on the back and I include a “monkey hook” for easy attachment to your wall. It can be on your wall within five minutes.
