Original artwork description
They say she is waiting.
But the real question is not what for—it’s whether waiting still means anything.
She has taken root in the ground, not by choice, but by habit. Over time, even that has lost its meaning. Remaining has become the only form of movement left to her.
Perhaps she is waiting to be picked—to be lifted out of this quiet, stretched existence. Perhaps that is salvation. But there is an inconvenient question: what if nothing follows? What if, after all this waiting, there is only an end?
Or perhaps the opposite—if she remains, if no one comes, is there still a chance that something might begin again beneath the same soil, under the same silence? Or is that just a comforting thought that makes staying bearable?
——————————————————
And here lies the paradox:
she waits for something whose arrival might erase the very meaning of waiting.
But perhaps the truest thing is this—
she has been waiting for so long
that it no longer matters what for.
