Original artwork description
From the medieval heart of Edinburgh, on the Royal Mile, where ghosts and the souls of martyrs linger, a small street drops sharply down to what was once the Nor Loch, a filthy lake. Now it is the site of the railway station and genteel Princes Street Gardens. Cockburn Street is now home to some hip cafes and shops, a pleasant place of tourists and eternal vacation, the air scented with frying bacon, hints of Mexico, the tang of hops. The solid Edinburgh stone houses look down, shadows and 'closes' beckon, and there is a gathering senses of mystery. This work is a fusion of realism and bright naivety. It is on a 0.2" inch canvas board, making it easy to frame. A wonderful souvenir of Edinburgh.
