Artwork description:

I once attended a wedding in a Medieval church near Rome on the coldest day of the year. The high ceilings and the marble floors did little to warm the space, as we sat for over 2 hours at the traditional Catholic ceremony. In the pew in front of me I noticed that the entire row was occupied with senior aged women dressed in very similar fur coats and perfectly styled hair. I often visit Italy since my husband is from Rome, and I still smile to myself when I see groups of women dressed alike in this way. Here a cluster of classic signore Italiane walks through the covered passageways surrounding Rome’s Piazza Vittorio, the crisp winter sunlight streaming in through the archways to the left.

'Donne Vestite in Pelliccia' is a 12 x 8in linoleum print printed with Caligo oil based ink onto a 15.75 x 11in sheet of Japanese Ho-Sho paper. This work is from a limited edition of 20 and is signed and titled on the front.

Materials used:

linoleum block, Caligo inks, Ho-Sho paper
