Original artwork description
After the story about Spanish slugs' invasion, I want to concentrate on Trees Portraits. Here, I move away from references to snails, focusing instead on the individuality of trees. The series is being created right now, and trees are where my attention lies. Part of my inspiration came from the stump portraits in Kyiv courtyards made by Alla Sorochan, and partly from the trees I encounter while walking with my daughter every day. I’m intrigued by what lies behind them, how they transform. In my practice overall, I try to step outside the boundaries of anthropocentrism, yet my human settings still get in the way.
