Standing in the museum before a historical masterpiece, I attempt to engage in
a dialogue across time with my own brushstrokes. My intention is not merely to copy, but to reinterpret the figure’s presence and emotion, while paying homage to classical art. I hope the viewer feels the intersection of two times: the weight of the original work, and the immediacy of my act of creation.
I used strong brushstrokes and contrasts of light and shadow to highlight the dignity and restraint of the figure, while keeping certain details loose to avoid mechanical imitation. I paid special attention to the movement of light across the canvas, so that the viewer experiences both the solemnity of the classic and the vitality of my own hand. Through careful color harmonization, I sought to make the dialogue on canvas vivid and alive.
