Acrylic colour on handmade Thai mulberry paper (kada sa), deckled edge, 9.5x 13.5 in., 24.5 x 34.5 cm.
I grow & breed orchids. I love them, to me they are living sculpture. Naturally I end up doing paintings on this subject. I tried here recreate the mood and look of the miniature orchid nestled on small branches in the wild. My paper is a traditional handmade mulberry paper made in Thailand. The paper is a thick parchment type paper, strong yet pliable. I have the paper made to this size to get the deckled edges which adds to the textural effect.
The close up picture is to get a better feel for the texture and brush strokes of the painting. Then there's me with the artwork for perspective.
For framing, leave the decorative edges exposed! They are an integral part of the composition.
