Original artwork description:

This is a contemplative abstract painting that combines geometric precision with expressive, intuitive surface work. Influenced by the aesthetics of blueprints, architectural plans, and ancient cartography, this piece explores the idea of silent structure—an unseen logic beneath visual noise.

Thin lines intersect across the soft, cool textured blue field of the canvas, forming an intricate web of imagined routes, spaces, and boundaries. Interspersed throughout are blocks of bold colour—white, black, blush, navy, and ochre—set like waypoints or markers within the larger field. These shapes are carefully balanced, yet their painterly textures and uneven edges disrupt the illusion of digital precision.

There is an intentional contrast between order and accident: beneath the grid, soft marks and flickers of colour peek through, remnants of earlier layers and spontaneous gestures. These ghostly marks evoke timeworn surfaces, maps that have been handled and reworked, or manuscripts that carry traces of erasure and amendment.

The composition plays with depth and flatness, stillness and direction. It’s a map without a legend—an invitation to slow down and trace your own pathways across its quiet, layered space.

A piece for collectors drawn to structure, subtlety, and abstraction grounded in quiet storytelling.

Painting can be either stretched on wooden bars (with spare painted canvas to go around the sides - overall canvas size is 120cm x 80 cm and artwork is 100cm x 70cm which can be stretched on bars or mounted in a frame. The painting will be rolled up and safely packaged for postage.
