Original artwork description
Dahlias hold a special place in Ukrainian autumn gardens. Bright, voluminous, and large, these flowers on strong, long stems proudly rise above others. It was their majestic, regal presence that caught my eye. I tried to convey their essence with thick, impasto strokes.
The picture was painted en plein air with a light, cheerful palette. This is one of the few surviving works from the period before my marriage, which is why it's signed with my maiden name.
