Czeslawa Kwoka was imprisoned and murdered at Auschwitz concentration camp. I visited Auschwitz in 2014 and like so many others this experience had a profound effect on me and changed my life in many ways.
It strikes me at my heart when I think of the evil that was carried out by human beings against fellow human beings and I wanted to produce a painting that showed that these numbers, these statistics that were murdered were people with names.
Czeslawa Kwoka was murdered by Auschwitz scientists who injected deadly phenol directly into her heart without using an anesthetic.
