Artwork description
The work presents a visually complex style, combining elements of abstract art and photography. The image focuses on a profile portrait of a woman, with a predominantly blue colour palette.
A variety of graphic elements such as text, abstract figures and textures are superimposed on the image, resulting in a complex, multilayered composition.
The composition does not focus on figurative realism, but on the integration of various elements to create a visual collage. The work visually invites interpretation and suggests a theme of empowerment or rebellion.
Cyanotype is a photographic printing process that produces a cyan-blue print. Engineers used the process well into the 20th century as a simple process to produce copies of drawings, referred to as blueprints. The process uses two chemicals: ferric ammonium citrate and potassium ferricyanide.
