When creating this painting, I wanted to capture the boldness and freedom of cowboys galloping across the open plains. I set the scene at sunset, using the dramatic contrast of light and shadow to emphasize strength and motion. The riders and their horses in full stride express both struggle and harmony with nature. I intentionally used bold colors and swift brushstrokes to fill the canvas with energy and rugged beauty.
I combined impasto and wet-on-wet techniques, first laying down broad strokes of background colors, then shaping the motion of the cowboys and horses with quick, decisive brushwork. The sky blends warm and cool tones to create depth and vastness. For the ground, I used splattering and dry-brush effects to bring the dust and flying earth vividly to life.
