"Coronaphone" was painted during the quarantine at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic and is part of the “COVID-19” series. The artwork depicts a telephone wearing a medical mask — a symbol of our isolated communication and paradoxical closeness at a distance.

Today, when the pandemic has become part of history, the painting serves as a visual archive of that time — a reminder of when the familiar world came to a halt and humanity was forced to rethink its connections, values, and ways of communication. The masked telephone became a metaphor for fear of the unknown and, at the same time, a desire to speak, to listen, and to remain human despite isolation.

Viewed now, “Coronaphone” reflects on the fragility of stability, the power of adaptation, and the beginning of a new reality where we’ve learned to appreciate connection — even the simplest conversation.
