This still life is defined by the tension between the colored grey background and the vibrant oranges in the foreground. The grey provides calm, structure, and a meditative atmosphere, where bottles and bowls appear as silent vessels of order. At the same time, the oranges bring warmth and vitality, breaking through this restraint. For me, the painting shows how life and joy become visible precisely where subtlety creates space. It suggests that order is not the opposite of vitality – but can in fact be its foundation.
