Coelogyne swaniana, Wild Orchids of Asia (2003)Acrylic painting by Gordon T.
20.32 x 27.94cm (unframed)
£197.29
Original artwork description
acrylic colour on handmade thai mulberry paper(kada sa), deckled edge,
8 x 11 in., 20 x 28 cm.
I’m an orchid collector and grower. To me these epiphyte plants are nature’s floating sculptures and a great source of inspiration. Often the flowers have a Zen quality of appearing very briefly to completely change the look of an otherwise sleepy foliage attached to a tree trunk. Here I try to capture this quality and the feel of the wilderness these plants comes from... the dense tropical rain forest.
I use a traditional mulberry paper handmade in Thailand. It’s a parchment like paper, strong yet pliable. I have the paper made to this size to get the deckled edges which adds to the textural effect.
The close up picture is to get a feel for the texture and brush strokes of the painting.
Please note that you can purchase up to 3 paintings of this same size or smaller in 1 order to be included in the same 1 shipping fee.
Packaging for my small paintings like this one is sealed in plastic sleeve, sealed in a padded hard plastic file case, and in an envelope.
