A textured Deep Impasto palette knife painting in oil by an award winning San Francisco Bay artist, featuring a colorful and textured coastal California painting. This particular location is looking North West from Yankee Point in the Carmel Highlands.
This painting was inspired by one of my Plein Air (outdoor) painting trips to the gorgeous California seaside town of Carmel. On a misty and atmospheric morning I sat quietly enjoying the marine layer fog dancing around the ocher cliffs, and captured the scene with my palette knives. Back in my studio in the San Francisco Bay, I scaled it up larger, and I love how the blues of Cerulean, Prussian, and Ultramarine play together to create incredible texture and movement with the plants in the foreground.
