Cleft is a sculpture that originated from a piece of driftwood from the Irish Sea. It has steel poles and two chevron shapes that face left and right. The gap between the two of them creates a kind of interaction. These chevrons are made from a formed steel which will naturally age outside in a garden setting.
The piece is also suitable for exhibition in an interior setting. A base of steel supports a retired railway sleeper plinth underneath the piece of driftwood. The steel can be pinned into the ground to stabilise this sculpture.
Materials: Oiled mild steel, driftwood, railway sleeper.
Dimensions in cm: 170 x 85 x 30 approx.
