Acrylic color on handmade Thai mulberry paper (kada sa), deckled edge, 21.5 x 31 in., 54 x 79 cm.
This is the clour version of the subject. There’s also a black and white version.
I’m an orchid collector, grower, breeder. To me these epiphyte plants are floating nature sculptures and a great inspiration. Often the flowers have this Zen quality of appearing very briefly to change the complete look of an otherwise sleepy foliage attached to a tree trunk. And yes, there are wild orchids whose flowers look like this…

The paper I use is a traditional handmade mulberry paper from Thailand. The paper is a thick parchment paper, strong yet pliable. I have the paper made to this size to get the deckled edges which adds to the textural effect. The close up pictures are to get a better feel for the texture and brush strokes of the painting.
