A elderly couple eat and share their food with their adorable Jack Russell during a break from Christmas shopping on Oxford Street, Swansea.
I grew up reading Ladybird books and the colouring of the pictures in these books often influences the colouring of my own urban people portraits.
Especially in this painting were the Ladybird type colouring perfectly interprets the neon artificial light of the Christmas-themed lights glowing from the shops and kiosks all around this couple and their lovely, hopeful dog.
