Original artwork description
The bridge drew me, a jolt of pure Americana, of Art Deco and Jazz Age. The trains trundle overhead, cutting through buildings, reminding me of a metropolis fantasy cityscape. The metal is riveted, solid, nostalgic too, with fascinating hues of orange, purple, brown, a metallic autumn. I am in Chicago and a day of freedom and exploring awaits, a day of indulgence. I look upwards, beyond the tracks of the Loop, at the skyscrapers and the parcel of sky. The work is filled with energy, with detail and colour. A perfect addition to any collection of American art, a great gift, a wonderful souvenir of the Windy City.
Texture has been added to create extra depth. The canvas is 0.5 inches deep and can therefore hang without a frame if wished.
