This continues my exploration of tennis as a of psychological space. The figure sits at the threshold between an interior room and the open court, resting against the door, suspended between play and reflection.

The architecture of the room echoes the geometry of the court, the lines of the floor pulling the eye toward the doorway and into the next room. The clean and simple perspective lines compete with the complexity and chaos of the satin material. This creates a contrast between the precise, practiced "performer" and the less controlled qualities of the human beneath.

Like many of my tennis paintings, the piece focuses on human interiority. It's less about the sport and more about the psychological relationship to competition and practice.
