Calm & Chaos (2020) Original Mixed-media Sculpture by Philip Hearsey

To describe what lies at the root of Calm & Chaos would be to prescribe the viewer's perception. They do not need to be told what to think as they are perfectly capable of making their own decision.
Each will arrive at their own interpretation, based on their memories, preferences and emotions.
Calm & Chaos is finished with acrylic paint on a resin form.. It freely turns on a scorched Yew cylindrical base. Scorching emphasises the natural texture and grain of the wood while making the woodiness less distracting.
The absence of corners on a circular base allow the sculpture to be turned to any position while still facing forwards.
