Original artwork description
We were touring Tuscany by rail. The main towns were all on the same line, Florence, Siena, Pisa and Lucca. We only had a short stop in Lucca unfortunately, but I remember walking round the beautiful square lined with very tall trees, I think they were limes
There were cafes all round the square. The buildings were tall. The trees were taller. I think it was their height that impressed me
Later I did this painting in ink and wash
