BUTTERMERE SUNSET (2020)Acrylic painting by Frank Barnes
50 x 36 x 0.01cm (unframed)
£250
Original artwork description
“Buttermere Sunset” is a watercolour, gouache and acrylic painting on 300gms watercolour paper. It is 50cmsWx36cmsH. The painting has evolved from drawings made on location in Cumbria, north west U.K. in 2018. It is not a literal landscape painting. It is an expression of a rural location ie: the fields and mountains that surround the village of Buttermere. I returned to Buttermere last month (September 2020) and took photographs of the light as it faded over hills and mountains at twilight time. I have always enjoyed being in rural environments and I do have a particular love for the Cumbrian fells and the lakes. I am inspired by the great colourists such as The Fauves, Barbara Rae, Howard Hodgkin, Gillian Ayres and John Hoyland.
The painting is presented in a white window mount 70x55cms. See pictures. A3 colour prints are available on non-fade heavy duty photographic paper. All prints (numbered) and the original painting come with a signed certificate of authenticity.
