Brouillon XIV. Astronaut (2025) Original Acrylic Painting by Olena Romashkina

In this work I combine strong geometric forms with hand-drawn marks, dots and repeated lines. The intense red background creates a feeling of heat and pressure, while the pale architectural forms appear almost like a strange urban landscape from another planet.
The title Astronaut refers not to a literal space traveller, but to the feeling of being an outsider inside a familiar environment. The figure becomes a metaphor for distance, observation and the search for a place within an increasingly complex world.
I created this work intuitively, building the image through layers of drawing, colour and repeated graphic elements.
