Painted entirely en plein air in the quiet afternoon light of the New Forest, this piece captures a moment of deep stillness near Broadley. I was drawn to this specific spot by the way the trees frame the left of the view, allowing a vast, breathing space to open up before the viewer.
I worked quickly, my brushstrokes guided by the rhythm of the wind in the leaves and the soft sounds of the forest. In those hours, painting became a meditation; time disappeared, and my thoughts grew still. While the occasional dog walker passed by with a friendly smile, I chose to keep the canvas free of people. I wanted to preserve the purity of the landscape exactly as I felt it: silent, ancient, and calm.
