This larger work, full of colour and laced with a wintry mood, depicts rooftops in Bristol. I was struck by the patterns and lines of the terraced houses, hugging the curve in a hill, their chimneys puncturing the horizon. A touch of pink breaks the pattern of Victorian symmetry, yet the sky is portentous, hinting at a storm to come. Texture has been added to the painting to give extra depth.
The canvas is 0.5 inches deep and it can hang without framing if wished. A great gift and wonderful collection starter.
