One late summer afternoon, I returned home with a handful of citrus fruits and a single perfect green leaf. There was no set plan—just the quiet urge to place these elements together and see what would emerge. On the left, the light grey jug; in the centre, the white creamer, holding its leaf and a branch of tiny oranges; to the right, the black glossy bottle. As they stood side by side, I began to see them as members of a small, self-contained society—each distinct, yet connected. One radiates openness, another freshness, another a quiet mystery.

The citrus fruits scattered in the foreground became the shared currency of their world—bright, full of life, a source of warmth and connection. The black-grey cloth that folds over the pale table edge acts like the ground beneath them, steadying the scene and giving contrast to their brilliance.

For me, Brilliant Society is about the beauty of individuality within unity. Each element retains its own character, yet the arrangement only comes alive when they stand together. I hope viewers recognise in it something familiar: how differences, when placed in harmony, can illuminate one another and make the whole richer.
