In this painting, I've melded wax and oil paints to sculpt vibrant, textural depths, evoking the raw intensity of emotions and the ethereal touch of the metaphysical. I chose fiery ambers and deep golds against striking contrasts of shadow to symbolize the eternal dance between light and darkness. Each stroke and smear is a deliberate expression of life's complexities and the transcendent moments that pierce through our everyday existence, inviting the viewer to reflect on deeper truths and explore their own inner landscapes. This artwork promises to bring a dynamic and thought-provoking energy into any space it inhabits.
Encaustic is a wax based paint composed of beeswax, damar resin and pigment or oil paint, which is kept molten on a heated palette. It is applied in several layers of combined colors to the surface with brushes and then reheated in order to fuse the paint. Then It can be carved to reveal the underneath colors, scraped, dipped, textured and so on.
